Situated towards the southern end of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the Graves AOC is now one of Bordeaux’s premium white wine regions. Famous for its Sauternes desert wines and these days increasingly its refined dry whites. The adoption of newer technologies, the move to stainless steel temperature controlled vats has enabled producers to create truly expressive aromatic wines. This combined with the healthier grapes has helped to deliver a more refreshing, fruit forward style in Bordeaux whites.
Nestled in the heart of the Graves region, alongside the river Garonne, Chateau Calvimont was originally owned by the Countess of Calvimont in the late 1700’s. Rather more recently, but with a lengthy family heritage in winemaking, Xavier and Caroline Perromat assumed responsibility for production.
